Subject:Please support
Time:9:10 am.
This is for clayrobeson. He's a good friend, and just a good person. He deserves a good break like this, so please support him. He's currently #19, I believe, with 243 votes. Close! Another 60 or so!

(His post follows, along with the link to the video/voting)

So I just got an email about setting up a 30 minute phone interview for a spot in the Top 50 for the Wine gig.

Can I get a "WHAT! WHAT!"?

I kinda feel like I'm on American Wine Idol. :)

Anyway, thanks to everyone who's viewed/voted so far, y'all rock. I'm currently #25 on the most votes list with 155 votes (I'll need 300 votes to break the top 10). I'm WAY down on the views list (even though I'm over 400 views).

If you have a chance, and have some friends that I don't know who like helping out hard luck cases, please let them know about this whole shebang! :D

Mood: quixotic.
We have our servers set up to give us little 'fortune'/quotes when we log in. I like them.

Today, a rather election-appropriate quote came up:

'Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.'

or fewer people with my name in the U.S.A.

How many have your name?

There better not be fewer....

Am I still alive? Folks on my friends list may be wondering...

Time:8:28 am.
Just to let you guys know, I'm doing great. Just busy and don't quite have the time to post everything I've been doing and has happened (and this just keeps getting bigger and bigger the longer I wait). But, because this is so good, I wanted to share it.

Makes me think of 's mom.

Time:10:00 am.
Mood: dorky.
This is the coolest thing I've seen for a long time. It's about a new material made out of graphite that conducts current faster and with lower current.

Oh. And it's smaller/thinner too.

So, it's been a while. And due to the content strike dealie, I won't be posting/commenting in the next day or so either.

I got back from LA last night, and caught up in LJ just before bed, and have been at work all day.

I'll post Saturday some time, with a bit of a catch-up.

Subject:Prayer, of sorts
Time:9:35 am.
Mood: grateful.
I got one of those chain emails, and it moved me to write this.

The email : Special Grocery ListCollapse )

Thank you for my life being the way it is... a job I really like. Good (for the most part) co-workers. Schools I like that can practice at. Friends I care for who also like me. People who enjoy my company to do things with, and the opportunity and money to do them with.

When I thought about potentially having cancer, and having only a short time to live, I thought of what I'd do with the time I had left, and honestly? I can't say I'd change much of what I do. That's a rare gift. I want to take this time to appreciate it.

Please give me the strength, courage, and help me change to improve myself.

I find that I've become less compassionate, and I want to reverse that. Please help me reach out to others, to drop my guard more and connect with people more. Please help me find more peace in life, help me let those slings and arrows bounce off easier because honestly? It's my own fault that those find their home so easily.

Please let me love more easily, and wisely. Please help me give others what I can with an open, willing heart. Please help me know what people need, and how best to help them reach those needs.

And finally, please help me find joy in all these things. The simple things.

Thank you.

Subject:Up all night
Time:1:20 am.
I shouldn't be up this late, but I've been playing Zanzarah, a cute little Pokemon-like game (that I knew about before Pokemon) where you collect fairies and go through a plot.

Been hooked (obviously, up too late) on it for a bit, but am using some cheat codes to hasten fairy progression. Just as a time saver, you understand (and it really does). :D

I lent it to my nieces and never got it back, and picked it up again a few weeks ago when I visited my folks, so I had to play it again, of course.

Off to bed for now.

Subject:'ICE' In Case of Emergency
Time:2:57 pm.
A recent article from the Toronto Star, 'the ICE idea', is catching on and it is a very simple, yet important method of contact for you or a loved one in case of an emergency.  As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is program the number of a contact person or persons and store the name as 'ICE'.

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when they went to the scene of an accident, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which numbers to call.  He therefore thought that is would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name to file 'next of kin' under.

Following a disaster in London, The East Anglian Ambulance Service has launched a national 'In case of Emergency (ICE)' campaign.  The idea is that you store the word 'ICE' in your mobile phone address book, and with it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted 'In Case of Emergency'. In an emergency situation, Emergency Services personnel and hospital staff would then be able to quickly find the contact information under 'ICE'

Please forward this. It won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.

A great idea that could make a difference!

Subject:A couple of quotes
Time:10:01 am.
I ran into these quotes of Gandhi's while looking something up and they struck a chord, so I'm sharing them.

'Find purpose, the means will follow.'
'Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.'
